How You Ended up Dating Your Cosmetic Surgeon

By: Beth Ortiz

It seems like life is full of rules, right? After all, if no one followed any rules, the world would be full of chaos. Wait a minute, the world is already pretty chaotic, so that doesn't make to much sense to you. Oh, you're generally a "good girl", but when it comes to your heart, you don't follow any rules.

You definitely broke that patient/doctor professionalism rule when you started dating your cosmetic surgeon. Hey, if it isn't hurting anyone, why should it make any difference? Besides, how you two got together makes for a great romance story – really, you're thinking of having it published. Yes, it's that good.

It all started a few months ago, when you were actively looking for a cosmetic surgeon to fix your drooping eyelid. You were really tired of walking around holding it up all the time. When people would give you a funny look, you'd just look right back at them and say you had extreme seasonal allergies.

Anyway, you figured that you might as well get a complete eyelift while you were at it, since you weren't too thrilled with the wrinkles appearing at the corners of your eyes. You checked the credentials of every cosmetic surgeon you could find, and none of them seemed to appeal to you.

That is, until you found the cosmetic surgeon who stole your heart. It happened quite suddenly, actually. You work in a large medical building, and while walking to lunch one day you noticed that there was a new doctor's office. You're nosy, so you made note of his name, and as soon as you got back to your office you did an Internet search on him.

Well, it turns out that he has a website. He's certified and well-educated, and incredibly handsome. You just love his distinguished grey hairs. In his biography, he mentions that he specializes in facelifts (hey, eyes are on the face – perfect!) and Botox injections. You know that Botox can be done during a lunch hour (so much for the eyelift for the time being), so you've decided that this would be the perfect opportunity to meet him.

You make an appointment for a consultation, and on the day of your appointment you enter his office in your best outfit. While waiting for him you make a special note to smudge your makeup a little – if he's detail-oriented, then he'll notice your mistake, which is the sign of a good doctor.

When he walks through the door, your heart skips a beat – this is a good sign. However, he starts off being really very professional, which isn't a good sign. He notices the smudged makeup, and gently fixes it with a tissue. You thank him, and tell him that it's a good thing you only work down the hall. This gets you two talking, and you just know that he's "the one". You technically started dating after your Botox procedure was over and you weren't his patient anymore, so that's not breaking any rules, right?
